Traveling Day Camps 2011!
"Along the Road"
Day camp is a "camp" experience in which children have fun exploring God's creation, growing in faith, and making new friends. The Camps, for rising first through fifth graders, will be held Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Trained counselors will work with small family groups throughout the week. Bible stories, worship, games, arts and crafts, singing, fellowship, making new friends, nature study, a cookout, field trips and much more will all be included in the Day Camp program! The theme for the week is "Along the Road."
The Presbytery's Traveling Day Camps will be held at six locations throughout the Presbytery. The following churches have agreed to host this important new ministry:
- Forest Presbyterian Church, Forest - July 18-22
- Northside Presbyterian Church, Blacksburg - July 25 - 29
- First Presbyterian Church, Martinsville - August 1-5
- Mallow Presbyterian Church, Covington - August 8 - 12
We are pleased to welcome Margaret Lester as our director for the Traveling Day Camp program. She will be hiring counselors, seeking counselors-in-training, and working with all the churches to register campers.
The cost to attend the camp is $75 per camper. Registration will be through the Presbytery office. Additional details and registration forms are available from the host churches.

PC(USA) - Camp and Conference Ministries
Camping ministry
Presbyterian camping offers faith-filled encounters with Christ in a spiritually safe environment. True to our denominational Reformed tradition, campers get to experience the saving grace of God in a spirit-filled Christian community. By living their faith, campers get an opportunity to more fully integrate their faith into their daily lives.
Conference and retreat ministry
Presbyterian Conference Centers offer hospitality and welcome to all God’s children in locations surrounded by the beauty of God’s creation. Time away from our busy lives to reflect on our faith, to formulate new mission and vision and to build trusting relationships with others reminds us to keep our faith central to all we do. Presbyterian Conference Centers are also great places to bring meeting, schools and family reunions!
100 Years of Sacred Space: Called by Name to Reflect God's Grace
100 Years of Sacred Space: Called by Name to Reflect God's Grace was created for the celebration of 100 years of Presbyterian camping ministry by the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in 2008.
